GOAL
The main goal of the Atlantic Rainforest Institution (ARFI) is to preserve and reforest the truly endangered and species-rich Atlantic Rainforest in the South of the State Bahia in Brazil. An incredible 93% of it’s original size is cut down today. UNSECO lists the area where ARFI is active among the 5 remaining biodiversity hotspots of the planet. Biologist counted 456 different tree species in only one hectare of land, this is a biodiverstity world record among trees!
All intact rainforest sponsored by you is later transferred into a Reserva Particular de Patrimonio National „RPPN“ - a natural reserve that guarantees governmental protection for eternity! ARFI already saved more then 100’000m2 of pure and intact Rainforest around the Rio de Contas Rivermouth and supported many local social, ambiental and cultural projects.

All work is done on voluntary basis. This guarantees that 100% of your donation goes into protecting the Atlantic Rainforest. This is a totally different and honest approach of NGO work.

Our small project is driven by world elite mountain-athletes. We feel the change of the global warming up on the mountains, and the change is drastic!! We are positive, that the most effective measure to combat CO2 is to save and protect standing rainforests. Action is required now - so thanks for your support and donation!
Itacaré, our homebase, is inside of the Northeast Coastal Rainforest Corridor, recognized as UNESCO Natural Biofera hotspot. The historic Rio de Contas Rivermouth is a unique place - part of the Bahia Atlantic Rainforest Ecosystem.
It houses a11 natural and geobiological biomes within only 7 miles: the Jungle - the Cove - the Mangrove - the riverarm - the islands river - the river line - the delta - the bay - the beach - the ocean and the peninsula.
